Learning to read is a process that takes time and practice. Just like learning to play a musical instrument it is a skill that needs to be repeated to be mastered. Some children find the process easy, while others will need more practice and encouragement.
When a child finds reading difficult, it quickly dampens their desire to read for pleasure. For some children it even becomes a hated chore.
Bookbot is here to help.
The interactive interface and levelled reading is designed to create an enjoyable experience and the novelty of this will help children focus and engage. However, in this fast paced, instant gratification era, reluctant readers may also need some structure and guidance to set regular, consistent practice. Providing some external motivation to give reluctant or struggling readers a positive start, would also be beneficial. As the reader becomes aware of their own progress, pride and success should generate internal motivation to read more.
Bookbot provides an accompanying Bookbot Connect App free of charge. Once the two apps are connected, families can;
- track which books are read,
- check the amount of time spent reading, on which days
- see fluency and accuracy progress and
- view a visual representation of practice and progress
Families can use this tool, together with some time management guidance to set a regular practice, and progress will quickly be measured and reported back.
